WHO WE ARE

Every child deserves a normal and happy childhood--- especially those robbed of their right to education due to family circumstances that are beyond their control. With this aspiration, The Bengaluru Hemodialysis Association, a Non-Government and Non-Profit making organization, was formed to facilitate the holistic development of children of chronic renal failure patients, until they can lead their own independent lives. Chronic renal disease patients suffer from the gradual loss of kidney function, rendering them incapable of functioning without regular dialysis. Most patients find it difficult to live a normal life, juggling the financial burden of their treatments and the needs of their family. As a result, their children may have to discontinue or compromise their education---and consequently face many social disadvantages later in life.

Dr. Eliza Pereira, former Chief Clinical Counsellor of St. Johns Medical College with 35 years of experience, realized that her and others could use their backgrounds in social work to make a difference for deprivileged children. This led her to initiate the BHA, to support the educational needs of the children of chronic renal failure patients---services also extend to helping underprivileged children who have lost a parent to terminal illness. The BHA specially focuses on children of female patients and single parents, who want to provide the best life for their children but do not have the resources or adequate support to do so. Through innovate collaborations and interventions, and a team of passionate social workers and volunteers, the BHA aims to help these children live a fulfilling life, where they can have every opportunity to discover their potential and competencies.

A little bit of compassion can transform lives. If you believe in this truth, we would love to have your support and blessings---the BHA needs the help of philanthropic individuals, corporate companies, and other funding agencies to help us continue this endeavor to help our children.

Let us give our children the future they deserve!
